Where The Pretty Things Are

Lanvin.

The collection shown by Lanvin in Paris this season leaves me speechless.

Alber Elbaz practically took everything that is beautiful in women´s clothing and made a collection out of it. While other designers focus on one particular element as a “theme” for their collection, Alber Elbaz simply celebrated the woman. All the baby-steps which the fashion majors were taking to make women use again the forgotten vocabulary of elegance, he takes and creates a summary of it, applied to our time. Every look is wearable and you can break each of them down to the essentials of women´s dressing. You see the skirts  hugging the waste and accentuating the hips while the top shows off the shoulders, all in simple black and white. You see color used on clean, beautifully tailored dresses, you see lace. You see fur and big jewelery which we already saw at Prada. You see black and leather, the “edginess” of the life in a métropole like New York or Paris is in it. The big leaves and the narrow coats make the light silky dresses look even more divine. The looks seduce and absolutely occupy the imagination. This collection really impressed me.

Here the two looks which I personally would rip out of his hands, but to be honest with you: I would post the entire collection if that would make any sense. It´s just so unbelievably good.
